Community Connection for November 2, 2023

Things to celebrate…

We are thrilled to have Quilt N’ Sew back on Main Street! Mrs. Kemmer’s ag science class from SRCTC did a little community service project to help move the hundreds of bolts of fabric from the former location. People travel quite a distance to shop in a great quilting store like we have! Let’s celebrate their return!

News to know…

The Mental Health Coalition meets today, November 2 at 3 pm at Growing Small Towns. This group is entirely volunteer and we invite you to join us if you’re passionate about the topic of mental health and social/emotional wellbeing. This group’s focus is on offering programs, events, and experiences that will help remove the stigma associated with mental health struggles. These things impact all of us at both an individual level and as a community.

Ideas to spread…

How do we ever create something new if we hold too tightly to how things have always been? Embracing change can be a really hard thing to do, especially when the “way we’ve always done it” doesn’t seem to be a problem. The challenge with rarely revisiting the way we do things is that the world is constantly and swiftly changing around us. Without intentional time to review processes and suggest improvements, we will eventually start to see less-than-ideal results. Participation will decline and it’s even possible that we’ll lose sight of the reason the thing in question exists to begin with. Changes don’t have to be huge to be meaningful; the focus is on getting just a little better every day.
