DICKEY COUNTY HERITAGE MUSEUM & HISTORICAL PARK

The Dickey County Historical Society of Oakes has two impressive properties of preservation in the community.

DICKEY COUNTY HERITAGE MUSEUM CENTER

  • The Heritage Center was the First National Bank of Oakes, built in 1908 with pressed Corinthian Stone and marble. The four Greek Portico columns are in the front of the building.

When a new bank was built in 1978, the Heritage Center was used by several businesses until 1993 when it was donated to the Dickey County Historical Society by the Tedin family for the purposes of collecting and exhibiting materials of historic significance.
  • The Dickey County Heritage Center was opened to the public in June 1994 and was officially dedicated by the North Dakota Historical Society in 1996. The center is maintained by a board of Historical Society Members.
